It’s hard to have a meaningful conversation about innovations in electronic music without mentioning France. From Musique Concrète to French Touch, the French have embodied electronic music in ways that most others haven’t. Now, in 2025, a new wave of experimental artists are pushing the envelope with a sound dubbed ‘low-end psychedelia.’ Like its predecessors, the scene surrounding it is nurturing a growing wave of forward-thinking artists who are now making their mark on the culture.
The sound itself is hard to pin down. It’s a hybridisation of various genres such as deep tech, dubstep, techno, and ambient – all underpinned by strong low energy and vivid atmospheric sound design. Spearheading this scene are artists such as Rinse FR resident Beatrice M., Christian Coiffure, and Jan Loup to name a few.
Another artist – who just so happens to be our guide for this edition of GTK – is Eloi Petillon, also known as Trois-Quarts Taxi System. TQTS has been active for a while now. In 2019, he co-founded De la je l’espère collective and later his DIY tape label/fanzine Hard Love Motor Love. His early releases made waves on the scene, such as his 2021 release, Rumour, on Maière. From there, he expanded his proficiency in experimental music with his genre-bending Gres EP (2023) and Infini Serpent (2024) on Blue Night Jungle and Traverse, respectively.
For this piece, Trois-Quarts Taxi System takes us through the DIY collectives, venues, and festivals that have shaped his style. If you’re a fan of this sound and ever find yourself in France, these are the places you absolutely cannot miss!
La Station — Gare des Mines (Paris)
Located at Porte d’Aubervilliers, this place always delivers an exciting and diverse lineup. It’s a mix of concert venue, club, gallery, talk space, radio station, and a hub for social and community projects.
La Station is all about pushing boundaries — blending genres, showcasing hybrid formats, and hosting both local and international artists. It’s actually where I played my first solo live set, in a collab between Radio Flouka and my collective — such a great memory.
Comité des Fêtes is a Toulouse-based collective throwing events at their own venue. The sound system and lighting are next level, making the whole vibe super immersive whether you’re performing or just vibing. Their programming is eclectic and alternative, spotlighting both local and European underground scenes. Always intimate, always good energy, and run by a super friendly team.

A hybrid venue just outside Paris, blending music, visual art, theatre, talks, and performances. It includes indoor and outdoor spaces, a garden, and areas for artist residencies or shoots, depending on the season. The programming is super diverse, often happening during the day or early evening, with a real spotlight on the local and alternative scene. You could catch an Upsammy set or a raw underground live — always original and personal.
Metaphore Collectif (Marseille)
Kind of similar in spirit to Comité, but around longer — they’re celebrating 13 years this year. It’s a self-managed collective and space in Marseille focused on free partying, with an amazing sound system and unique, alternative lineups. The atmosphere is electric and one-of-a-kind, often diving deep into psychedelic and low-end-heavy sounds. A perfect space for that kind of sonic trip.
Fata Morgana (Paris / Burgundy)
Fata Morgana is both a crew and a festival, hosting events in Paris and an annual summer festival in Bourgogne at a truly unique spot. It’s a really important collective for me, and one that always allows me to discover exceptional artists, taking me away from my usual tastes and listening habits. Their lineup is always adventurous — somewhere between club culture and experimental — and they really take care to highlight each artist. I’m especially hyped for this year’s edition in August!
