FILMED LAST YEAR, THE FIRST OF OUR SHORT-FORM DOCUMENTARY SERIES SPOTLIGHTS AMSTERDAM-BASED STUDIO LUMUS INSTRUMENTS AS THEY GEAR UP FOR DRAAIMOLEN 2024.

In this film, we take a peek into the world of Lumus Instruments. We see how they develop their works, hear their philosophies around their practice, and take a behind-the-scenes look into their design studio as well as life on site as they build their installations for the 2024 edition of Draaimolen.

Founded in 2017 by Timo Lejeune and Julius Oosting, Lumus creates exciting multidisciplinary works, spanning different mediums, from stage design and standalone exhibitions to scenography.

Makers at heart, the studio is known for its ability to build whatever it needs, and its iconic minimalist designs are ever-present within its hometown of Amsterdam.

From their constant reimagining of Lofi and viral stage designs at Draaimolen, to their recognisable luminaire at RadioRadio or their site-specific installations and live audiovisual shows, Lumus’s work has permeated the very fabric of the city’s culture.
